TIME FOR THE RECHTMAKERS APPROACH?

Digna de Bruin developed this new approach from practice and helps organizations to bridge the gap between law, essence, innovation and behaviour.

ABOUT DIGNA

I started as a partner in commercial law. But my true learning experience was life itself. Through trial and error, I found a different path: from litigation to designing agreements that support collaboration. From conflict to collaboration. Now I work as a designer of relational contracts and living governance, particularly in transitions.

Bringing law back to what it was intended for: to help people further.

"Digna has the courage to peel back the burden of legalism and create space for respectful interaction. In a systemic world that needs sociological renewal, this is of great significance."

— Corry Royackers, strategic advisor, municipality of Zaanstad

"Digna brings calm and focus to complex collaborations. Practical, context-sensitive, and collaborative, she works with the stakeholders. This led to agreements that are truly practical."

— Rosalie Klinkhamer, Strategy & Projects Manager, Flevo Hospital

What Digna does requires courage and personal leadership. She brings together values, purpose, and professionalism in governance. This gives me, as a director, a strategic compass and opens up meaningful dialogue—especially where misunderstandings would otherwise persist.

– Marc Seelen, Chairman of the Board of Flevo Hospital

"With guidance from De Rechtmakers, we gradually developed a sustainable contract based on mutual trust. It has fundamentally improved our collaboration with all major health insurers."

— Jos de Blok, founder of Buurtzorg Nederland

FEATURED POSITIVE HEALTHY ALMERE (PGA)

Almere is the first city in the Netherlands to implement the Integrated Healthcare Agreement (IZA) on a large scale. The collaboration agreement governs the relationships between the 13 initiators, new entrants, and citizen initiatives. The goal is to create the conditions for a collaborative movement. What's remarkable is that it not only stipulates what the parties will do, but especially how they will do it together: based on trust, equality, and collaborative learning.

Digna de Bruin assisted the directors of the 13 initiators – and other stakeholders – in drafting the agreements. Digna: "Contracts don't belong to lawyers, but to the people who have to work with them. I want to encourage people to solve things themselves. If you make agreements based on fear and conflict (with sanctions and fines), you won't achieve synergy and collaboration."
